In a great new step for WordPress theme developers, a new range of code snippets are now available on GitHub, which should help aspiring developers on their journey to creating brand new themes with rich features and easy to navigate, clean code. So far the code library features snippets for directories, sections and both basic and advanced controls. However, the library is set to be extended shortly and is likely to include JavaScript and PostMessage resources.

In April this year the Theme Customiser was set as a compulsory element for all WordPress themes and there’s now just three months left before this new rule will be enforced. It’s been a move tinged with controversy but there do seem to be more pros than cons, so we’ll have to see the impact it has when it’s fully rolled out in October this year.
