Today Freelancer.com have announced the acquisition Fantero.com, an online marketplace offering a wide selection of digital goods ranging from graphics and web elements to 3D models, not to mention the seemingly endless array of design templates and script files ready for you to download.

Fantero’s member base has continued to grow steadily, and they are currently only a few thousand downloads short of reaching their 1,000,000 download milestone.

Freelancer.com CEO and Chairman Matt Barrie commented on the acquisition earlier today:

Fantero is an excellent fit with our Freelancer community. Freelancers are constantly producing all sorts of digital content, and this is an excellent way to monetise these assets- in addition, the resource will help increase productivity and provide immediate value for those working on thousands of projects posted on Freelancer every day.”

The acquisition is likely to have a significant impact on Freelancer.com’s revenue in coming years, but is unlikely to have an immediate impact on this financial year due to the acquisition being funded by the company’s existing cash reserves.
