Last week the world said an excited hello to the official Twitter plugin for WordPress, which bundles Twitter’s functionality into a WordPress plugin for the first time ever. The package aims to allow WordPress sites to embed Twitter content onto their sites and grow their Twitter following at the same time.
The newly developed ‘Twitter Cards’ are part of the package, described here by Twitter reps:
‘Twitter Cards help your content stand out on Twitter by providing additional rich context before users click. Our plugin automatically generates Twitter Cards for your webpages to highlight your content shared on Twitter.’
Twitter Analytics are also part of the deal, allowing uses to sync their site and Twitter accounts to track their content and measure its success through the growth of Tweet activity and followers.
That’s not all, the Twitter plugin gives users the opportunity to embed Tweets on their site, even allowing you to customise the look of your Tweet to ensure it matches the branding of your site.
A Tweet button can be added to your posts, making it quick and simple for visitors to share your content with their followers. In addition to this, the plugin also features a Follow button, which will be installed on every page of your site for maximum exposure.
What do you think? Are you planning on installing the official Twitter plugin?
