WordPress 4.4 Beta 1 is Available

In case you missed it, WordPress 4.4 Beta 1 is now available for any users who want to have a tinker with the upcoming version and have a play with the changes that have been made so far. The full version of 4.4 is due for release on December 8th, so there’s just under a month to go!

A few of the changes that need to be tested with 4.4 Beta 1 are:

  • Twenty Sixteen – the annual default WordPress theme has been given a new lick of paint for the upcoming year
  • Responsive Images – the aim is that WordPress will deliver a ‘more appropriate’ image to users, depending on factors like their screen size and resolution
  • Embeds – the team have been working on the ability to embed rich content from hundreds of sites that support to oEmbed standard
  • REST API – plugin authors can take advantage of the WordPress REST API plugin, which is included in WordPress 4.4.
