WordPress 4.4 Removes ‘View Post’ Option

In the new WordPress 4.4 version (due in December 2015) the ‘View Post’ and ‘Get Shortlink’ buttons are to be removed from the post editor, and instead of the ‘View Post’ field there will be a clickpoint permalink. By clicking on the permalink users will be able to view the post in its current state, and to change the permalink you’ll need to click the ‘Edit’ button.

These changes are set to make the interface much simpler to navigate, so if this sounds like something you want to try out you can install the WordPress Beta Tester plugin, which allows you to get involved with Beta testing any new releases. Plus, for the more adventurous user there’s an option to switch to the ‘bleeding edge’ of development. Of course, don’t forget to take a full backup of your site before you start dabbling!
