At the end of 2015 WordPress founder, Matt Mullenweg, give his tenth ‘State of the Word’ address, where he discussed changes coming to WordPress in 2016.
WordPress has evolved over the years from a simple blog platform to one of the most popular content management systems, and thanks to the latest versions and developments, there’s likely to be a spike in WordPress being used to develop apps.
The WP REST API plays a major role, since it is designed to simplify the integration of apps with WordPress. In addition, themes and plugins will be translated this year to ensure they’re accessible to users the world over. We’re also likely to see major steps being taken when it comes to the growth of e-commerce.
So we can look forward to an exciting year for WordPress in 2016!
